School board Vice Chair Brown elected GSBA District 4 Director
Rockdale County Board of Education Vice Chair Pam BrownConyers, Ga. – Rockdale County Board of Education Vice-Chairwoman Pam Brown was unanimously elected as the Georgia School Board Association (GSBA) District 4 Director, representing public school districts in Rockdale, Newton, and DeKalb counties. GSBA District Directors serve three-year terms.  

Rockdale County Board of Education Chairwoman Mandy North said, “We are proud of Vice-Chairwoman Pam Brown on the unanimous selection by her peers to serve as GSBA's District 4 Director, continuing the leadership of Rockdale's school board in the region and state. Her experience and passion for public education make her a wonderful champion for District 4's schools and families.”

“Congratulations to Vice-Chairwoman Pam Brown on her election as GSBA District 4 Director,” said RCPS Superintendent Dr. Terry Oatts. “It is indeed a testament to the continuing world-class caliber of our board members that one of our governance team members has been affirmed to such a prominent regional leadership post. I have no doubt that Vice-Chairwoman Brown will serve with distinction.”

Rockdale County Board of Education Vice-Chairwoman Brown said, “I am honored to be elected as GSBA’s District 4 Director and to have the opportunity to serve the families of District 4. I am excited to collaborate with others to strengthen public education in our region and our state. I will work to ensure schools have access to resources and children are afforded the highest quality teaching and learning possible.”

Brown began her first term on the Rockdale County Board of Education in January 2017 and was recently reelected to a second term. She also serves on the Board of the A.R. "Gus" Barksdale Boys and Girls Club, is a member of the Conyers-Rockdale Economic Development Council, a 2010 graduate of Leadership Rockdale, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and a Georgia Power Electrical Safety PowerTown presenter. She is currently employed as a Transmission Analyst for Southern Company with over 30 years of service. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and an MBA with a concentration in Supply Chain Management. She and her husband, John, are the parents of three children – two graduates of RCPS schools and one currently attending school in RCPS.
